Swift Windsteed - Scales, stage one

I couldn't avoid drawing scales for long, not when they cover the beast. Surprisingly, not too upset with how they look thus far; this is my first time really drawing them so please, advice is always welcome!

I will not be posting the second phase of the scales as they make absolutely no sense on my paper right now. It's to the point where I need to go on a hunt for a different color pencil so I can draw the scales out in order to continue.
